Introduction:

Hello My name is Keturah Hood and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker meaning I have a Masters in Social Work and I hold a clinical license to provide psychological therapeutic treatment. I break this down because not many people know what Clinical Social workers do. Or when they think of social work they think automatically I take peoples children away, that I am a CPS(child protection services) worker. Which kudos to them, a job I respect, but wouldn’t want to do! ok back on Topic..

I am a woman who is over 40, I don’t mind telling my age, but I’m aging so it wont be the same number forever! I am a mom of 4 adult children and a “Gandma”. I have lived a life filled with my own emotional traumas. I was a teen mom, a married mom, a divorced mom, and now a dating mom who is in an exclusive relationship at this time of writing this intro. I have had my share of tears sobs and dark moments on my journey of a life as I’m sure a lot of others have experienced. There are many layers to what Ive been through and experienced in my life and Ive been told I wear it well. But I will give credit where credit is due, and that is with my first therapist I had in Grad School who gave it to me without the coat of sugar. One of my first lessons about emotional and mental health was that it was” ok to not be ok”. Once that notion hit me over the head, I experienced a waterfall that overflowed my toolbox with coping tools that I gained through therapy, spirituality and within my own self.

I have always believed that both my personal and professional experiences in life should be used to Advocate, Educate and Support the EMOTIONAL and MENTAL well being of people. So this blog is the launch of my continued effort to do so with a broader audience that is beyond the individual people and families that are my clients.

My grandfather Nordean Savoy Baxter is one of my inspirations may he RIP. Cancer sucks by the way! One of my last special memories of my conversation with my PaPa was of him saying “baby, you are very blessed, you always have been blessed.” He advised me to always help other people, even in the mist of my own difficulties, because helping people in itself would make you feel relieved of your own stressors of your own life struggles.

I want this Blog Site to be for ANYONE..and to be a very INCLUSIVE platform. I welcome anyone to comment/share and/or just sit back and absorb the content that I share. If you breath, feel and think than you are my audience that I want to reach! Id like to write about a variety of topics that randomly come up for me throughout my daily life. Things I observe, feel, and experience may bring about a Blog entry. Id like to help myself and others process subjects and topics that may come from current news worthy events and/or just topics right off the press of my head!

** Hint/Note my love for Butterfly’s-My defined meanings for each letter will unfold throughout my blogs.

I just want to say what I mean and mean what I say. I want to write to INSPIRE HEALTHY THOUGHTS and FEELINGS and MOTIVATION to allow the JOURNEY of your life to be like a butterfly flying free!
